It is estimated that more than 30% of people under the age of 18 in Germany, have a ‘so-called’ migrant background. Watch the video ‘How Diverse Is Germany (and How Is This Diversity Perceived)?’ for more information:
In a research in Germany, the 66 % of the population over 70 years old responded that they would like to see migrants adapted to German culture. When it comes to younger ages, this percentage decreases and eventually goes down to 22 % among those under 25 years of age. The majority of young adults would like all cultural groups in the country to come closer together.
A 55 % among the research respondents under the age of 25 answered that they would like to see different cultures merging. (El Menouar, n.d.)
According to the Constitution of the federal republic of Germany estblished in 1949, the state and the church cooperate based on freedom and independence and no church or religion is treated in a preferential way by the state. (Naftemporiki, 2018)
